A bevy of Bromptons

It has been a while since I stepped into any bike shop, but I was on the hunt for some knee warmers for when I go running. I went to Runners Need in Holborn which is above Cycle Surgery and they said they only have knee supports for runners and but you can get leg warmers for cyclists.

No luck with the knee warmers, they had some fancy leg warmers, (cheaper to get a pair of tights) but I had a look the prices of Bromptons. They have increased a lot since I first got mine. If I want to upgrade next year I will have trade in my current one to help with the cost.

Still costly but much better.

I agree. Better to buy a Brompton from somewhere you are happy with as it will almost certainly be the start of a beautiful relationship.

Question completely unrelated to your post; I'm looking into purchasing a Brompton for when I start grad school this fall. I've read multiple forum comments where people complain of problems with paint chipping heavily on Bromptons. Bike paint chips from time to time. Do you find it excessive on your bike or do your think a few Brompton owners are just a bit unhinged over the chipping?

Hello.

I was really amazed to hear about reports of the paint chips on Bromptons. I went over to check my bike. No chips. I have never seen a chipped Brompton. Having visited the factory (talked to other Brompton owners) and seen how much effort in put into the colour and painting of the bikes I would be surprised if the paint did not last.

My Brompton, now four years old has fallen over a number of times and the only marks on the bike are scuff marks on the frame from my shoes and the label is beginning to peel off. The label on the new Bromptons are now fixed differently.

I was quite upset above the price rise. I got my brompton just 3 months ago from christmas and it cost £760. I can believe they've hiked it up amost £100!!

My boyfriend was going to get a Brompton too, but now if considering a new fangled "Tern" bikes, which have a wider price range.
